Become a Supporter
Every garden needs water, sun and nutrients to help make it grow. For TRC to grow, support and generosity from the community are needed.
The Riverwood Conservancy serves the community by providing valuable nature and environmental education, stewardship and garden programs for children, youth and adults at Riverwood. In turn, as a charitable organization, TRC must rely on members, volunteers and supporters in the community in order to provide these services.Corporate sponsorship and program partnership opportunities are available for special events including our annual Earth: A Celebration fundraiser in April. Sponsorships are also available for education, stewardship and garden programs.
A matching donor campaign within your company is an effective way to raise vital funds. Sponsors and donors are provided many recognition benefits, including signage, acknowledgement in Samara, our quarterly newsletter, and on this website. Tax receipts are issued for monetary or in-kind donations of $10 or more for the amount allowable by Canada Revenue Agency. Your support is seen by your customers, neighbours and even your competitors.
Contributions may be made through CanadaHelps, an easy, fast and secure on-line service. CanadaHelps accepts donations of cash, stocks and other forms of securities such as bonds and mutual funds traded on a public market in Canada or the US. Gifts of stock are totally exempt from capital gains tax in Canada. The donor receives a tax receipt for the full value of the security, making the donor's tax savings higher than if the security was sold. We encourage you to talk with your financial advisor and to go on-line to CanadaHelps for futher information.
We would be happy to arrange a walkabout or to make a presentation to you or your company about sponsorships and how your organization can be a valuable supporter of Riverwood. For more information, please contact Douglas Markoff at 905-279-5878.
