Join the 180+ volunteers who help make Riverwood a beautiful oasis in the heart of Mississauga. Whether our volunteers are planning events, participating on a committee or the board of directors, pulling invasive weeds, planting trees and flowers, stuffing envelopes or assisting the teacher, they make a difference! Each volunteer contribution is unique and vital to the success of TRC.TRC welcomes high school students, however, volunteer opportunities are mainly during the summer. Outdoor Volunteer Positions
Positions Available NOWStewardship Committee Assistant
Assist TRC's Stewardship program by providing administrative support to the committee and events throughout the year. Must know Word and Excel and be able to attend monthly committee meetings on the last Thursday of each month.
Stewardship Leader
Lead corporate or high school volunteers as they plant trees,
remove invasive plants, stabilize trail systems and restore natural
habitats. Time commitment: five events in the fall. Training provided.Education Assistant
Assist the Education Naturally teacher with her outdoor nature, science and environmental education classes. If you like children (JK through Grade 8) and the outdoors, why not volunteer? Time commitment: One weekday every two weeks, 9 am until 2 pm, September - June. Volunteers must have a police check or the ability to get one.

Assist the Exploration Naturally teacher as she provides interactive, engaging outdoor field experiences for secondary school students. If you like teenagers and the outdoors, this is perfect for you. Time commitment: One weekday every two weeks, 9 am until 2 pm, September - June. Volunteers must have a police check or the ability to get one.
Weekly Gardener--Coming Soon!
Get your hands dirty and make Riverwood beautiful! Join our team of dedicated volunteer gardeners and plant and maintain the gardens. Don’t know a lot about gardening? Volunteer and learn from experienced gardeners and volunteer horticulturists! Time commitment: two to three hours weekly, April to November.
Other Volunteer Positions
Garden Leader
If you are knowledgeable about gardening and want to supervise and mentor other volunteers, this is the position for you! We are currently seeking a Garden Leader for Saturdays. Time commitment: three to five hours weekly, plus occasional meetings, April to November. 

Head Gardener
Work with TRC staff and Garden Leaders to plan the garden work at Riverwood. Time commitment: approximately 10 hours/month, April to November.Stewardship Leader

Plant Foster Parents
As part of our Native Plant Propagation Team, Plant Foster Parents plant the seeds collected and care for a 72 cell flat by integrating it with their own gardens over the winter (these plants stay outside). In the spring, you are able to keep a portion of the plants for your own garden; the remainder come to Riverwood to be planted in areas where we have removed invasive plants at Riverwood.
Seed Forecasters—--Coming Soon!
Help our Native Plant Propagation Team by monitoring plants at specific Riverwood locations. You will help determine when seeds of our native wildflowers are developing. These seeds, collected only by Credit Valley Conservation, will be cultivated to plant where invasive plants now exist. Volunteers must be comfortable walking Riverwood's trails and be available May through October.Plant Foster Parents

Volunteer Birdfeeders--Wait List Only!
Feed the many birds of Riverwood! A great family activity or for anyone who wants a nice walk on our beautiful trails! Time commitment: approximately one hour weekly or one hour once or twice a month on weekends.
Indoor Volunteer Positions
Discovery@Riverwood Volunteer
Meet and greet guests as they come to Discovery@Riverwood programs. Duties include taking registrations and collecting payments. Time commitment: year-round, varies based on TRC programming, evening and weekend positions available.
Special Events/Gala Planning Committee—NOW SEEKING VOLUNTEERS!
This active committee is seeking help with the special events held during the year, including members' events and our annual fundraiser, Earth: A Celebration. Volunteers help set up and assist at the events; for Earth: A Celebration, volunteers contact businesses, organizations and individuals to request the donations of live and silent auction items. If you like teamwork and a good party, contact us!
Committee Work—NOW SEEKING VOLUNTEERS!
If you like to see the possibilities and make them happen, committee work may be for you. TRC relies on volunteer committees to help guide the organization in future directions and to work to make those ideas reality. Committees include Special Events, Volunteer, Education, Membership, Marketing and Stewardship. Most committees meet monthly.
Birdfeeder Coordinator
Birdfeeder Coordinator
Coordinate the efforts of the Volunteer Birdfeeders as they feed the birds of Riverwood! Tasks include scheduling volunteers and ensuring there is enough birdseed for distribution. Time commitment: approximately four hours a month.
Office Helpers
Help the office run smoothly by assisting the staff. Tasks include filing, photocopying, answering phones, data entry, computer work and other tasks that may arise from time to time. Volunteers with computer skills needed! Time commitment: two to three hours weekly.
Special Event Workers
Are you a people person? Be an ambassador for TRC at such special events as Successful Gardening Show and Earth: A Celebration. Distribute information on TRC and Riverwood and answer questions, all with a smile. Time commitment: Varies based on special events calendar.
Newsletter Layout and Design
Be a part of Samara, TRC's quarterly newsletter, by using your skills in Quark or Adobe InDesign. This position is an in-house position during the work week. Join a fantastic team to produce an informative newsletter for our members.
